The 2019–20 season was Inter Milan’s 111th year in existence and their 104th consecutive campaign in the top flight of Italian football. Under the management of Antonio Conte, Inter competed in four competitions: Serie A, Coppa Italia, UEFA Champions League, and UEFA Europa League. The season showcased significant progress under Conte’s leadership but ended just shy of silverware. In Serie A, Inter mounted a strong challenge for the Scudetto but ultimately finished second, one point behind Juventus. Romelu Lukaku was instrumental in their league campaign, scoring 23 goals, forming a formidable attacking duo with Lautaro Martínez. Inter’s Champions League run, however, ended disappointingly in the group stage. Drawn in a tough group alongside Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund, Inter failed to progress, finishing third. This result sent them into the UEFA Europa League, where they had a much stronger showing. The team advanced to the final, beating Getafe, Bayer Leverkusen, and Shakhtar Donetsk en route. However, they were defeated 3–2 by Sevilla in a hard-fought final. In the Coppa Italia, Inter reached the semi-finals but were eliminated by Napoli. Despite the near-misses, the season laid a foundation for future success under Conte, with Lukaku finishing as the team’s top scorer with 34 goals across all competitions. This marked a season of growth for Inter as they solidified their status as a top contender domestically and in Europe.
