AC Milan endured a second consecutive disappointing season under the returning Fabio Capello. Milan finished a dismal 10th in Serie A, far from their usual standards, and Capello was dismissed at the end of the season, leaving his once-strong reputation in doubt. Despite their league struggles, Milan made a notable run in the Coppa Italia, finishing as runners-up.
