The 2009–10 season was the 76th for AC Milan in Serie A and marked a period of transition for the club. It was the first season without club legend Paolo Maldini, who retired at the end of the previous campaign. The season was under the guidance of head coach Leonardo, who faced the challenge of rebuilding the squad while maintaining Milan’s competitive edge. Milan finished the Serie A season in third place, which secured them a spot in the UEFA Champions League for the following year. In the Coppa Italia, the club reached the quarter-finals but was eliminated. Their UEFA Champions League campaign ended in the Round of 16, with Milan falling short against Manchester United. Marco Borriello was Milan’s top scorer in Serie A with 14 goals, while Brazilian star Ronaldinho led the team in total goals across all competitions, scoring 15. Despite strong individual performances, Milan’s overall season ended without major silverware.
